MLB released the 2027 schedule yesterday, and the Yankees get what they rarely get — a home opener. March 25 at Yankee Stadium, six games to start, and a slate packed with four Red Sox series, two Subway Series sets, and a road trip to LA to face the Dodgers. Here is what matters.
Opening Day Is at Home — March 25 vs. Toronto Blue Jays
The Yankees open the 2027 season at Yankee Stadium on Thursday, March 25 against the Toronto Blue Jays. The opening homestand runs six games: three against Toronto, then three against the Oakland Athletics. After opening on the road in two of the last three seasons, this is the right way to start — Yankee Stadium, Opening Day, pinstripes at home.
The very first MLB game of 2027 is actually Wednesday, March 24, an Opening Night game on Netflix. The Yankees are not in it. Their season starts the next day.
Two Subway Series Sets — The July One Is the Marquee
The Yankees and Mets meet twice in 2027. The first goes to Queens: May 28–30 at Citi Field. The rematch comes home: July 16–18 at Yankee Stadium.

- September 17–19 — Red Sox at Yankee Stadium: The late-season decider. If the AL East race is still alive in mid-September, this three-game set at home against Boston will shape who goes to the playoffs.
World Series Rematch — August 27–29 at Dodger Stadium
The Yankees travel to Los Angeles on August 27–29 for three games at Dodger Stadium. It is a road trip, not a home series, but it is the kind of matchup that gets national attention regardless of the standings. The Dodgers face both their 2024 and 2025 World Series opponents in the second half — this is one of those series.
The Season Ends in the AL East
The Yankees close 2027 with a six-game road trip: first at Toronto, then three in Baltimore against the Orioles. Both teams will almost certainly be in postseason contention. If the Yankees have not clinched by the final week, they will have to earn it on the road against two division rivals fighting for the same thing.
